Not sure what you mean. Are you trying to identify an engine?

All engine types are on the drop down menu, or are you trying to search a specific serial number?

Engine model numbers ( I believe for internal use ) came in a lot of varied numbers. For example an early 1950 356 2 pice crankcase came with the number 369, increased from 1100cc to 1300cc in 1951 and it changed to 506. then in the same year to 507 when the 1500cc became available.
With all engine changes through the years the number changed, so I guess!!!! around 20 different engine types were made.
For example my 1959 1600 super has the model type "616/2" the normal engined 1600 had the number 616/1. This continued through to 1961. Clearly the super 90 and carrera engines had different numbers.
I seem to remember you posted a thread about a 356B this might explain
your question? It is also possible to advise the year and type of motor you might have if the number on the crankcase facing you under the generator support bracket is given.
