I`m a big fan of the `view posts since your last visit` function but at the same time find it enormously frustating. Often, when I get in on an evening and open DDk, I find maybe 3 dozen new posts and start to work my way through them. Sometimes I`ll get to, say post 20, press back and..... I get `No topics or posts met your search criteria` and I have to unearth the new unread posts from the forum index. Not a great trial I know but sometimes a bit long winded. Is there a time out for the `view posts` function ? how long is it, I can`t work it out. Any help appreciated.

i think it will be dependant on your computer ... are you using a steam power PC or are you like us hip things & running a Mac ?
View last posts for me stays until I fully exit/ quit my web browser

I don`t think it can be my computer, it works fine as long as I keep cranking the handle.
I do aspire to be hip but would never go running in a mac.

If you drop out of the browser (i.e. close Internet Explorer) and then come back it will display as no new post. Even for a few seconds as in effect you have made a return visit since the last time you came, even if it was a few minutes, so unless somebody has posted within those moment there will be no new posts.
If you need to go away just leave the browser open on the new post pages and press F5 to refresh, it will then update with anything new whilst retaining what was new when you visited a few moment earlier.
Its not a fault or a Mac or PC thing, it just depends on your browser and settings.

Thanks Nige, that sounds about right. I connect to the internet through a wireless router and the connection drops off all the time. Where I live, if I open wireless net works available, I see 10-12 options, all other people vying for space. Prehaps I have a bit of a weedy router, constantly getting bullied by bigger boys, any suggestions for a more manly piece of kit that can secure an uninterupted internet feed. I see BT adverts proclaiming there product is the one to go for but Bt are not not my IP.
Thanks, Mike.

Dunno Mike
Have a similar-ish problem here, though my connection is mostly stable I can be online and idle all day (no change there) but due to my location the best speed I have seen is 1mbps, that goes down at certain times of the day as my neighbours log on.

Sorted. Upgrade the firmware in the router and all is well. Thanks.
