is this a 356 no. plate light????

if so what year??? or if you cannot tell what are and where would the part numbers be??

Don't look like it to me.
Might be a really, really early one. But not with the wire coming out the side. 356 had them straight out the back into the bodywork.

i think the hole has been drill at a later date for the wire.

no thanks dacota, it is on a vintage trailer i have, and a mate came round and said that is what he thought it was off.

If you look on the top of the light box there is a small circle. If it says "Hella" its the same make as those used on 356 cars with either "Shine up" or "shine down" lighting for the number plate. Early 356 up to around 56 /57? had shine down lights but your one a shine down version has formed flutes on the front which I think would be flat on 356 versions. Maybe Hella if it is that make, made several similar versions for different cars.

took it of yesterday it is a hella and in very good shape, and those fluted bits are clip in trim and in alloy !!
