How knowledgeable are the SVA testers when it comes to donor components? I'm keen to ensure that I get an age related plate, but i'm pushing the two major systems requirement.

If i were, for example, to put porsche 944 disk brakes on the back of my replica and tell them the car is from a 911 donor, would they spot it

I don't think the SVA is concerned with this side of things - I believe it will happen during the registration process - after you have your certificate from the SVA test - which involves another inspection.

I know a couple of people who have passed SVA in the last 12 months over at the speedsters club.

Thanks for that. So it must be a department of the DVLA that inspect your car. Do you happen to know how knowledgeable they are when it comes to identifying what car various components have come from?

The new IVA test (replaced SVA in April this year) doesn't recognised manufacturers of individual components. The IVA has changed to fall inline with EU guidelines which basically means that amateur built cars need where practical to comply with current production car legislation.

I am new to this site and currently building a Chesil Speedster. I'm finding out to my cost and sanity that most of the new requirements are ridiculous, un-necessary and lacking authenticity. Peter from Chesil has emailed me this week with a checklist of do's and don'ts in order to get IVA approval It may not be complete but i will give you some idea as to the the level of detail expected. I can email you a copy if you like. I've also downloaded the full IVA test requirements (all 225 pages!) for a little bedtime reading.
