The bearing sleeve for my throttle pedal is badly worn, item 24 on the diagram





Looking at PET it seems this could be replaced with the pedal box in situ ? Just a matter of removing the cotter pin & sliding out the shaft then bearings ?



Does this sound right ?

can I replace the bearing without taking out the pedal box?


Next question, where will I source the bearings from ( 901 423 253 00 ) ?

I've convinced myself after looking at the diagrams etc it's do-able in stu. I'll get some bushes ordered up & see how it goes

Take the pedal box out James. It's so easy on the bench. The problem is once you get on down into the footwell there's no room to move and the bits you want to work on are right in front of your nose - literally! BTDT
Renew all the bearings whilst you're in there - you know it makes sense
If you really do want to do it insitu then remove the driver's seat first.

thanks for the links ... I suppose I should have done a search 1st

I will do teh full rebuild of the pedal at some point ( in the future ) , but I'm determined to just replace the accelerator bushes this time .... I'll get a kit order & attempt it .... details of success or failure to follow

bushes arived today from type911 ... 1/2 an our later and I have new bronze bushes installed on the throttle pedal shaft

The cotter pin was a bit of a bugger, but apart from that it was really straight forward to do in situ ... except when I started going dizzy from stretching my neck too much to see what I was doing

as a final note, I initially checked out my pedal assembly in detail as I had aquired a 'click' from the throttle linkage within the tunnel just as I reached full travel of the throttle pedal + the throttle wasn't fully returning to closed when it was released.

As it turned out, one of the plastic bushes for the throttle mech within the pedal box had cracked & dissintergrated. Now I've replaced these bushes all the above problems have been solved
