DDK - Die Deutschen Klassiker

Hi All, I just purchased the owners manual for my t-5 from a man in USA on ebay. Advertised as a repro. Watch out its not like the official - available from Porsche repro manual. Its the wrong paper, with a laminated cover and pages appear to be missing. Be warned.... evil bayer....

to be fair he does say in the advert that its a scanned copy with laminated cover.

Helen,I can take words from sections in the bible and justify the existence of a demi god called DDK but it dont make it right.

He is clearly trying to pass of his home, printed copies as a reproduction available from Porsche and other vendors and ebay and Porsche have been informed.

Im unsure on the copywrite law for books of this age but im sure Porsche own the rights to the Porsche Logo and the name Porsche etc etc etc etc.

He is breaking ebay rules clear and simple. Hang im high....

'Evil bayer' seems a bit strong for me to be honest. He states that it is a reproduction - he even says that he has scanned and retouched it so isn't claiming that it's an official reproduction by Porsche.

He may be breaking copyright (I'm sure someone else can tell us that), and sure he's out to make some cash, but in my opinion, I think that branding him some kind of fraudster is a little strong. Like he says, it's a cheap version to keep in your glovebox which I'm sure appeals to a lot of us...

Anyway, I'm guessing they won't be available much longer if he's been reported to eBay AND Porsche.

Well I have just x1 printed in limited quantities, and just unlike the real thing, so please feel free to make me lots of offers.

I suppose I could take it apart and scan in the pages, fix the missing pages and print on correct paper, then replace plastic wire with metal.

$50 plus shipping is not that much cheaper from the proper reprinted repro manual that is available. I believe it is priced and worded to make the purchaser think it is the correct item and everyone at work agrees. Im no lawyer and often dont read things correctly, especially when rushed. I suppose if I had known that the item he was selling was a bad copy then I would have read his add more carefully.

The idea of this post was not to cause any harm to the sellers character but to inform members and owners of another product that is below the standards that you would expect when purchasing for your Porsche.

$50? You could have had it for $24.99... never punch the buy-it-now before reading the feedback
