DDK - Die Deutschen Klassiker

I'm new to 356 ownership, but have been around them and older VW's for quite some time now.

I recently picked up a '54 Coupe that was someone else forgotten project. It's a basket case and needs a lot of attention. I'm sure I'll have many questions along the way.

Here's my car.

and a few hours after getting it to my shop.




I plan on building an "Outlaw" of sorts so I figured I'd start with the wheels and suspension (what I do and know best)

2.5" dropped spindles with disc brakes in the font now with 4.5" Fuchs, and lowered 1 inner spline in the rear with deep 6" Fuchs in the rear on adapters.

That's going to look really cool.
Mark (912uk) is restoring a '54 coupe as well so I'm sure he will be able to give you a lot info.

Thanks for the kind words about the 356. Not all people have been happy with the route I decided to take it. But it's mine now, right? So I'll build it how I want it.

Its for sale. I'd like to sell it and put the funds into the 356.

Early '60 "euro" completely restored pan powder coated black, 4" narrowed beam, dropped spindles, rebuilt stock trans, stainless brake lines, and the real kicker, 356 "B" brakes modified to accept the Fuch's bolt pattern.

The body has all the metal work done (was shiny metal until I rolled it onto the trailer to bring home) just needs final work and paint. I have EVERYTHING to put the car back together.

If you weren't in the US I'd enquire about the stock wheels you've replaced. My original stock wheels had been banded by 2" so were sold. I currently have the 5 stud 66'ish beetle ones but am on the look out for a set of standard vented 356 rims.

BTW. I like your old posters on the wall in the photos. One or two of mine would look good next to them (plug, plug - lol)

I ship wheels to the UK all the time. That's no problem for me..
Although these wheels probably would be worth the shipping costs.

I can't take credit for the posters on the wall. Those belong to the friend where the car was stored before I picked it up.

I'm currently on the hunt for correct headlights, a missing door glass and 1/4 windows.

I still have boxes to sort through, I'm hoping the missing small parts are in there.

Also in Nor Cal (San Francisco) and look forward to seeing the progress. I had a 356 B that I sold in 2005.
