New to DDK, but have been on the Early S and Pelican for some time now. Also, Midwest Chapter R Gruppe member (the hardest core driving chapter BTW  ) Guess I can't post a pic of my hotrod here, eh? Anyway, I have a 69E coupe lightweight with a 2.2S spec motor, a survivor 71T coupe, and an IROC clone track car. Looking forward to meeting other like minded enthusiasts here that I have not met on the other boards.

Cheers,

Scott

Thanks for the warm welcome. I know, embarassed about not posting any pics - sorry. I tried to post photos and could not. Seems to be different than what we are able to do on Early S and Pelican. Did I read somewhere that I need to create a Photobucket account or something like that? Sounds like a royal PITA, but if somebody wants to help me out, I would be most appreciative.

Sheesh, that was a bear for some reason. Anyway, here are the specs...
  • 1969 E originally sporto in light ivory
  • S trim delete and holes welded - all steel no FG
  • Deleted all non-essentials from trunk (HVAC, washer, ect)
  • Complete interior delete and replaced with 60's Recaro race buckets (those yummy ones that everyone likes), R style roll bar, LtWt carpet, no sound deadening, R door panels with plexi pull up windows, R style dash with no speaker, so sunvisors, and 380mm wheel with bakelite horn button.
  • 69E block rebuilt to S specs, webers, headers, and sport muffler
  • R style rear decklid (Bob Tilton method)
    • Deep 6's refinished ala 67S style
    • Bigger T-bars, stock sway, Koni reds, S brakes
Handles really tight with little body roll even at the limit on the track. Weighs 2125 with 3/4 tank of gas and no driver. Recently drove 3400 miles with the Midwest R Gruppe crew to Treffen. Can you say, ear plugs?

Welcome to DDK, loving the car. 8)

I've been trying to think where I'd seen it before, then I remembered! One of my Flickr contacts is also an R Gruppe member and had some photos of your road trip :

Yeah Gary, that is me. Your Flickr buddy is Cornpanzer from R Gruppe/Early S/Pelican. Great guy who also owns a cool car. We had a phenominal road trip to Cali - 7 cars from the Midwest, 1 from NY, 1 from NC, and 2 from TX. Had a ball and am going to be driving it home after the Monterey Historics. You can see pictures from our trip here.
