The absolute misery of penalty points vent

Post by VG65 »

Just had to vent my frustration - and what better forum to do it.

Having had a virginal licence for twenty years - I've been 'got' twice in a week - unknown to me til the NIP's fell through my letter box.

6 bleeding points in a matter of days...in my works car doing work stuff - the 911 still has it's winter hibernation cover on!! I ask you.

70 in a 60 - for heavens sake - it's all a money making excerise. - both on the A590 from Barrow (watch it Cumbria guys)...a clear open road...they want to go and catch some real criminals

6 flipping points before 'the season' has begun - my life is in ruins
Cheers,
Vicki.

Were you flashed twice on the same stretch of road on the same journey. In UK law you can only be prosecuted for an individual crime one time only. If you say you stayed at a constant 70mph all the way technically it was an individual crime - so the second ticket ought to be waived.

I think. :?

I think I was caught this morning too. I was taking the kids to school on my way to work and it's all 20mph zone around me..I was probably doing 25! Anyway, just near the school a Smart car with a periscope camera on the roof was parked up...pretty sure I was nabbed

Seriously? What's a periscope camera? Any pictures?

Where I am it's so backwards we all go out and watch the 'magic cats-eyes' in the road when a car goes past  .

Bad luck, Vicki BTW  .

Peter - I'm pretty sure the Smarts with periscope cameras are for monitoring dodgy / illegal parking around schools...etc
As long as you didn't park on the ZigZags at the kids school you should be OK!

Tell me about it...

No pull in 25 years (some say a miracle in itself) then the mother of all Norfolk nabs resulting in 6pts and a £650 mugging - the pay-off for keeping my licence...

Purchased the advice of a very natty lawyer that taught me a lot about the technical side of self representation. If anybody's facing an upcoming appearance then feel free to get in touch and i'll send you all the necessary paperwork and background essential to being taken seriously in court

Sorry to hear about your NIPs.

i sold a peugeout to some bloke end of nov.
since then i have gotten regular NIP's through despite sending off to the DVLA they came in before I got anything back from the DVLA -

now I know it wasnt me driving .
but plod keep harassing me for details - i filled in the form giving the name the bloke gave me (before I sent the notice off to the DVLA )
Mr Cromwell of Crowell Cars, (trader) Cromwell street.

sounded fishy at the time but what the hey - he paid, i sold.

god knows how this will pan out -
I cant prove it wasnt me, they cant prove it was me - ive given all the information i have..

who knows?

... or the local council monitoring parking.

They used to do this when I lived in East London, sneaky little scrotes.

Looks like I can sigh with relief...my Smart car was only monitoring parking then....well ast least now I know I'll remember next time not to stop on the double yellow lines when I drop the kids at breakfast club!!

Still irritating though...and yet another money spinner.

That terrible news Vicky - get a road angel!

The smart cars in manchester are used for monitoring people in bus lanes etc, not speed offences. well not yet anyway - i'm sure its only a matter of time though....

Sorry to hear about your six points but.....controversial I know....you were breaking the law. The A590 is clearly marked as a 60mph road and there is simply no excuse for travelling at 70mph.

If some little scrote had broken into your house and stolen your telly but nothing else you would still expect him to be prosecuted* .

Would you be pleased if the police decided not to pursue the crime on the basis that the scrote had argued that he had not done a proper crime as he did not mean to steal a telly and could have stolen a lot more?

* Assuming the police caught the sod and were not sat in cars on the A590 picking on speeding motorists

PS This is not a holier than thou post as I have had six points over the years for speeding.
