I am interested in all views on what you would buy new or old if you had 10K to spend. What cars would be a good investment and what would be just pure fun?

well i would get a 914 and keep the change.

but if your looking for something a little more modern or practicle then a really good 944 or even a Boxster.




BUT ok, i confess what i actually ended up with was a Merc A-Class. as i wanted something that wouldn't mind the freezing mornings 3 mile drive to the gym. which as we all know isn't far anough for a porsche to even start getting warm.

Id buy 10 40 year old beat to sh!t rusted cars like I usually do!!

Probably go for one of these if it was my only car. Both just about into the 10k budget post crunch! 15k it would be a 964....

A real future classic with modern performance and comfort.

The way new(er) cars are falling in value - give it another week and for £10K I'd go for an 06 reg 997 Turbo or an 05 Ferrari 430 Spider

Leave it another month and £10K will probably get you the pair !

I'm quite attracted by a bit of V8 rumble.


But I would probably look first for an impact bumper 911 like this one:

audi tt quattro sport, stripped out rear seat with recaro fronts, 2 tone paint and 240bhp, quicker than the 3.2 v6 and only a 1000 rhd made

At the end of the month I'm going to have about £10k to spend on a "new" daily driver! Am personally still thinking about getting a 968.

right now in my current situation I would buy an E46 330d touring, take it to DMS to be chipped, and put the rest in the bank..

if i was buying a toy car I would probably go for the best 10k Boxster I could find, although if I had a garage I would go for an early porsche project car of some sort

New(ish) I'd go for,
968 CS or Sport
Boxster 3.2S
944 Turbo cab.

Well i already have a 14 so dont need another just yet but a boxter would be nice although a little on the hairdresser side but as for A class merc they are hateful things i had one as a hire car a while ago while my crash damaged car was being repaired and have to say its the worse deisned car i have ever driven - have you ever tried putting a cup off coffee in the cup holder by the handbrake and then tried to actually use the handbrake!! you cant.

Also very temping is the rumble of a V8 and missed the chance to have my brother in laws old one about 6 months ago for a very very cheap price.

LOL. i wasn't suggesting it for you, just saying that after looking at an awful lot of far more desirable cars (and taking into account economy, road tax & insurance)thats what I ended up with...BUT, who the hell ever uses a cup holder anyway ? its great for carry me and my bag to the gym every morning and thats all i wanted it for.

I'm probably on my own with this I know but it's just one of those cars which has a unique style. I drove one once for a few hundred miles and while the handling and performance was nothing special the cockpit definitely was. Best of all - the endless double takes from everyone else.
