Welcome Bruce. Fire away with your questions and parts requests. Unless it's a real RS engine you're after you should get most of what you need.
Tell us some history on your car.

Regards
Mike

Hi lads nice to meet you all. A bit of info on me first, I work as a mechanic for Audi and live on a farm.
My friend owns a VW restoration garage where I found the car.
I will cram six months of history into one post.
The car is believed to be a 71 2.2 T it was imported from cyprus in 1974,
I believe it was cyuprus as was just there on hols and reg plates are same as what my car was. Also it is right hand drive. The car spent the 80's in fife and then was brought up to aberdeenshire in early 90's.
The previous owner converted it to red and had the Rs front and rear quarters lead welded on and bumpers fitted also the large table type spoiler fitted. After this was done he put in his garage and left it for seven years or so.

I bought the car from the owner as he could not afford th bill to put car back together. What i basically bought was a rolling shell with numerous bin bags of parts and a siezed engine.

I have fully rebuilt the engine and replaced all main bearing shells as found one to be very slightly roughnand holding crank (what do you expect after 7 years).
I have replaced roof lining and changed from ivory to rs black. Have replaced all brakes and clutch also reconned all calipers which include tho alumimium front ones.

Thats about it i think i will post up pics today.

Hi from Fife. That car is very red and very wide! Should be nice when its finished.

Nice to see that lightweight adjustable bonnet props are still available on the NHS, too..

Better quality boot lid support than most - broom handles for the rest of us!
I'll be up early in the New Year to stay with my eldest and dearest who lives in Ferryhill - I'll hope to hook up with you then and monitor progress!!
