First of all - A big thanks for all the help in my first thread, which gave me the info to buy the 356c in the first place

Then a big thanks for helping me settle the colour - which seemed to be overwhelmingingly black, and which definatly swung my thoughts!

Ive hit another snag, this one is fairly major i reckon.

I'll save a very long story, but the owner can no longer get his hands on either the interior (carpets, headlinging, seats, door cards) OR the sunroof (I know where to get a new one of these now, but tempted to weld it up anyway!)'

Hmmm, now at this stage im tempted to back out, but f**k it i really want a 356C, and he has now dropped the price to £6000 (which includes a fully rebuilt engine, and rest of the parts, some new (lots of new chrome, etc)

So bascially im still into it - but heres the snag...How much should I reckon for an interior? Anyone got one in the attic (only Joking)?

I dont mean how much for the headlining, and carpets - but roughly how much for an interior (door cards, seats, seat belts, etc) in say reasonable second hand condition...? Next question, where best to source one? If im going to phone around i like to have what would be a fair price in my head so i have something to negotiate on.

So thats the question, im prepared to get the 356 on the road as it is (except with black paint) and then drive it even with just one seat in it (hopefully the type with the fa**y magent hidden under it! LOL), so in otherwords im prepared to wait for an interior to surface, i just need a fair of idea of price.

Apologies for these diffcult threads i keep managing to put together!

They will get easier, like err where does this "extra bolt go?" when i start the build proper.

If I were you I would ring the usual suspects here in the UK (PRS, KK, Transend etc) as well as emailing some of the American suppliers (EASY, Adam Wright, Parts Heaven etc) and see what they have for what price, remembering to take into account shipping etc for the American suppliers.

i paid £80 for my front and rear seats
carpet you can buy replacements, seat belts are fairly generic and door cards can be made fairly easily

My 356c came with a complete interior BUT when we started fitting it back in we found it had wharped/bent/shrunk/eaten so we ended up replacing 95% of it anyway.

the worst were the door cards. and the parcel shelf. we thought we hd got away with patching the seats But we are regreting this now and will end up replacing them or having them re-sprung and up-holstered. ...when money allows

well im not alone, by a few accounts - but £80! damn that is cheap, i'll expect to pay alot more as im preety sure im not that lucky! Im going to budget about 1000 - 2000 for all the seats, new square carpet, headlining, etc...

So it looks like im just going to have to keep and eye on ebay and phone around the houses! Im guessing an early 912 interior wont fit??? Just wondering as it offers another search avenue - hope i dont end up dropping in some recaro golf seats ive got knocking about, only joking, although they are leather, no really its going to be period, now just got to find one!

if Husbourne Crawley auto jumble happens again in 2009. then its well worth a vist for 356 bits.

infact PCGB are holding a free auto jumble at their H/Q at Cornbury house, Morton-on-Marsh. first sun of Dec.

another thought ...i might well replace my seats with new. in which case i'll be selling mine.

Helen you need some 914 seats cut down and retrimmed

it's what I have as a winter project.

Just a quick question RHD vs LHD, im presuming this will cause a problem with the adjustment levers? (i.e a RHD drivers seat, in place of a LHD drivers seat)

Or can i just swap the seats over for each other (i.e passenger for drivers, drivers for passenger seat)

Anyone know

Get in touch, when youve thought about it, no particular hurry, as i havent even got the shell in my hands yet (will be a few more weeks) but if the bits i need start to surface then obviously im going to want buy them

The back of the drivers seat should be free to hinge forward - No Lock- although it would not matter if it did have one

The Passenger Seat Back should have a locking mecanism otherwise it will flip forward under emergency braking - but, of course, you do not plan to do any of that !
