Interestingly James Hot66 mentioned to use Por 15 for painting the running gear on your car parts..

I used to use Hammerite but found it well sh**e so I started to use 2pk black car paint mixed by hand in a glass jar and then painted on.. all looks good and sticks nice

But what you recommend does some one have a photo of parts painted in Por15 ? is it a gloss finish and I understand it's hammer tough?

also places to get it.. ? is it just Frost? and this stuff

POR15 will dis-colour when subjected to UV. Of course if its running gear this shouldn't be a problem, but they recommend using it as a base, then topcoating with a colour of your choice :)

Is it as tough as they say?

because I might skip the por and go for the 2pk.

for the body work I have been using Hammerite Rust cure ( BTW ) the only thing they do that IS very good. and a product Andy and I bought from this guy

This stuff is Great but it's soft unlike Por 15 but as its for the floor and the whole of the underside it's going to need a top coat of 2pk to make it tough. FLOWS like nothing I have seen seaps into all the cracks and as the car is upside down that can only help to seal the car from road water spray..

Don't like hammerite?

I've used the smooth stuff before and as long as you leave it to dry properly and really harden it's been excellent for me. even used it on a nato towhook (bright red) on my old Land Rover.

Por15 sounds excellent, but I did not know about the colour going off.

They have a product called Chassis coat which is not UV affected, and is semi satin in finish.

I'm thinking of going this way rather then powder coat.

P.S. if you are going to spray, i'd use a hobby air type air supply

I've used POR15 on the chassis of my Vitesse - wonderful stuff. Easy to apply and gives a good satin finish.
