Hi everyone, my names Ryan and I'm from Bournemouth down on the south coast. I've recently bought a 1965 912 and found the articles in this forum really useful so I thought id join up and say to you all. So a little about me... my everyday drive is a 987 boxster s and have a car history going back to 1972 and 1963 beetles which we restored. Next challenge is this 1965 912 which is in need of some help.

I'm new to the old porsches so any feedback and any comments on her would be appreciated

I think she has a 2.4 engine in but will pull the engine no off tomorrow and see if that helps anyone with any info.

I tried to start her up over the weekend to see what happens.... and to my amazement she turned over but was really slow at cranking the engine and it seemed there wasn't enough power to start her. She fired twice but it was if the battery wasn't powerful enough. I tried 3 batteries which i know are ok so its definately not a bettery issue... its as if the started wasnt spinning quickly enough??

Anyway any ideas and feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Ryan

Hi Ryan and welcome to DDK,

looks like you hve taken on quite a project there, But you have cme to the right place for help. and you also are lucky anough to live near to some other DDKers who have experience in this sort of thing.

i started out wth a 2.7 Boxster :P then went on to own a beautiful (miss it greatly) 912 which was my introduction to the mad and wacky world of early porsche ownersip........i've not looked back since
although that could be because i'm too short to see in the mirrors

Big help here, from further west - the middle 'S' is missing from the engine cover.
Apart from that, a 2.4 motor in a 912 would be quite lively...!!
Good luck!!
