Every one for the last 2 years has been asking what are those frames for in the garden...

well over the last few months of spare time I can nick from time to time I only bloody gone and done it and finsihed it..







Huge thanks to John for posting up his pictures as that is what gave me the kick up the arse I needed..

I started abit late today 2.30 pm and at 9pm she was off the dogdy excessive wood stacked jack at the front and on the frame!!! one beer later I had a go at spining her..


It's perfectly balanced!!! I am amazed at how balanced she is one handed and it turns with out ANY sudden movement so my measure meants are right I will post them up later basicly the front is shorter than the back.

My Super U bargain wheels from Classic Le Mans work a treat..

I'm nackered.. now for the real hard work during the late evenings......

Mind you, I think the clearance from car to ceiling is the most impressive (when at 12-6 oclock!) thats tight!

I wish a long way to go yet but a huge step forward now. I can tinker though the winter doing the underside and the body work metal work wise... hrs and hrs to put in on this I have to find a balance between doing a good job and being too much of a perfectionist.

Creats loads of space when the car is on the side.. Plus it is so easy to get to stuff. I don't even need to lock the car in place it just stays where you put it I will add a lock though.

as soon as I looked at the underneath I though wow loads of work!!
just have to take one bit at a time..

I think I will do the other side of the floor first then i will feel some thing has been done to the car to keep it going..

target is booked in for End of Jan/early Feb for either any body felting at Terry's place Essex or straight to paint if I am happy with all the gaps at Alan's place Portsmouth.

I am going to need another garage!!! the push has come from John posting his pictures and the fact that in 9 months a Mercedes is going to be parked right where the 356 is about now!!


as for the clearance your right I was thinking ekk!! this is tight as it went up and up and up some more but it turns with out touching the floor or the ceiling and will only come out the garage upside down due to the roof and the garage door I must link the two trollies as I will feel better when they are linked..

I might sell the trolly and the rotissery afterwards..

Well done! I did'nt think anyone had a smaller garage than me - mine clears a beam by 10mm.
Your pivot points are obviously spot on - before I cut the floors out and removed the suspension I had to use sand bags for counterbalance!

I am still in shock that I can turn it one handed and leave it where it is and it stays!! this might change when I remove the front steering parts..

thanks for posting your pic's John it got me going.. I just didn't stop till late last night at one point it was S*** or bust the rear was in but the front was on a stack of wood on a jack that was on two car ramps!!! balanced!!!!!

so I had to fly though making the front section but it worked and a huge releaf when it was all bolted up

I can't wait to get out there with the hot air gun

I was trying to work out how you calculated the centre of Gravity. But apparently it was a lucky guess !! Shh, I won't tell if you dont

well I can't take the whole credit and credit is due to a guy called Ken who on a factory visit to the restoration area took a look at their crude two engine stands rotissery and took some measure ments and I used those but with some sticks, tape measures and more sticks to see if it looked right and it was so i made it to that.. it clears the roof by about 5 cm's phew now that was just luck..

Good work Mark! Just done a similar thing with the Minor - except I didn't make it myself! Certainly beats laying under the car getting bits of old underseal in your eyes

Be careful when you lower the Morris off the body roller, I used the same one on a split bus and as I was lowering it it fell on me, the weight transfer is subtle and quick. Nearly cost me my leg / life!

Best to use two people and two trolley jacks and take your time.

Even better photo's than on the other thread. I also saw John's and from seeing what he is doing with the torch I even sort of now feel envious of you both and would like to start again!! My goodness what I am saying,
and what the hell would my wife say!!!

Really though I bet you almost jumped up and down with glee when you first turned it!!

The Morris minor one reminded me of one of the ones I had, a split screen 53 had 2x2 wood pushed into longitudinal box sections in the 60's and covered over with fibreglass. Oh dear what a naughty lad I was!
