Hi

I want to fit alloy arms to my 1970 911.

I have been offered 3.2 Carrera arms.

Will they fit?

Luke Hudson has done this recently, I am sure he will tell all. I know that he needed to change the flange wjere the studs are mounted, and had problem mounting the damper as the bolt diameter and length changed.

Derek - they will fit but if you're not in a hurry I would try & find a pair of the earlier '74-'75 aluminium trailing arms. These utilise the same rear antiroll bar fixings as your car (as did the '76 & '77 version) but the post '75 arms can cause interference with the '71 & earlier outer CV joints.

You will also need to change the rear shocks for the later versions with the different lower mount & may need to grind down a little bit of the flange on the lh heat exchanger to clear the aluminium arm.

Make sure you get the rear hubs with the trailing arms & use them - otherwise you will have to machine your original hubs to get them to seat correctly.

Andy's covered it all there!

get 1974-5 arms , if you get carrera arms i belive you have to get new CV joints/stub axle's whereas 1974-5's are a straight swap. As mentioned you will need to replace your hubs too.

Obviously new bushes and shocks are a good idea!

If you need any help on the install let me know as I've just done it myself

Oh and be warned you may have to drop the gearbox to get the existing arm off whihc can be a PITA!!
