Posted up in general chat about my failed sale blah blah blah well heres a few pictures for you to waste some time over .Bear in mind this car is MOT'd and only started on 2nd August. .


1st step interior out ,well lifted seats out cos mounts were rotten.








Before and after under bonnet area, took ages bought some top quality paint stripper from well known company in Rochdale.... Rubbish, resorted to wire wheel cup on a grinder and unearthed nice skim of filler all over but no rot.Good smear of zinc paint then a blast of zolotone paint mmm nice.

Bought rot free bonnet off good old Ebay £80 bargain ? was still in O.G yellow paint too .Baremetalled in slapped on some satin black put the twin silver stripe back on the outside too and bit more zolotone underneath.







Nxt step color code the fibreglass cover sills didnt like the satin black and wanted to know what was underneath.

Floors next ,not having plenty of coin but a spare VW Beetle chassis with similar ribbed floor guess what i did.

Well only had 1 little bit to weld up as of yesterday



chopped it out made a replacement then started to have a dig for steel....... now bear in mind this car came with a ticket and a visibly fresh repair on the outside of the chassis ala the hell hole.
I didnt expect to uncover the inside of the welded repair to be full of expanded foam...hmmm now isnt this stuff real flammable and the MOT work i am led to believe was done by the same garage that issued the ticket.... enjoy ...i didnt !!!


















On a lighter note tho the rear suspension mount looks solid and check out the O.G paint like a metallic blue.

Guess i have a battery tray,engine tray ,back of bulkhead and some chassis to repair fantastic.

Sterling work there, I love this type of thread and to see some ingenuity being applied i.e. the floor pans - superb!

Thanks for making them look neat Bootsy ,took me about 3hours just to put that lot up!. Got the steel for chassis repair today 2mm plate hoping to finish welding (for the 2nd time) end of next week
Mate of mine has generously offered to paint it.Oh bugger now something else to think about.... British Racing Green and polished Centerlines ? opinions please .

nice work floor and under bonnet looks good.
Don't see to many Green 914's around nice idea, My vote is for Zambezi green or Viper green then again Willow green is nice aswell, Oh decisions
keep us posted hope you don't encounter any more suprises.

Go green cool colour just dont go yellow never have liked cars in yellow they just look wrong sorry folks.

Cant do yellow,sorry my mates a hot rodder and yellow is reserved for Milners coupe
Prob gonna sway towards factory blue have looked at the color options but mine seems more turqoise under the arches?
Am only thinking of the resale value when its done .

Off we go again sorry Bootsy jumbled up again(not for the want of trying to get them straight),this weeks progress.....plenty more chopping thank god 1mm cutting discs now excist 'cos some of this has to be welded back in



Outside and under chassis welded did a route weld followed by massive zig-zag weld to replace some strength ,and big overlap from under side.Not that you can see much once its all back together.


Bulkhead removal sure makes getting to the engine tray side easier,and wasn't happy with the battery tray so that bit the dust too.

Bought these off Roger Bray too,battery tray and support plus unner wing panel....£156 delivered aaaagh lol.

Slapped some paint on before fitting esp inside the battery tray,mmmm L96b Alaska Blue Metallic is the colour it came from the factory so back to original it goes (never painted a car in its factory colour before so this'll be a 1st)
Battery tray in and engine tray side thing welded up too.

Welded up the bottom of the bulkhead as was rotted thro then......got a piece of metal in my eye (rolled up behind my visor) and work has now stopped for couple of days .Not happy.!!

Keep up the good work its a shame know one will see it all, but at least you know its been done.
I dont wont to give you more work, but looks like you might have to drop the engine and box, if you have a look at your engine fan it looks like it has lots of blades missing, unless its just the photo. you need to replace the fan otherwise engine going to cook itself,

If you need one let me know think i have one in garage
