The 'Maverick' Classic Porsche Forum and Classic Porsche Club for Porsche 356, Aircooled Porsche 911, Porsche 912, Porsche 914 & Porsche Replicas. 'We join for the cars but stay for the people'
Saw this at stanford hall and wondered if it belonged to anyone who uses this site. It had a small card in the window saying it was a 53 but it has front horn grills so I think that makes it a 54 model. I get the feeling it is not a recent import but its hard to tell. It was not a concourse car but looked quite honest with what looked liked a good original interior. It was getting quite a lot of interest from the vw crowd. cool car.
Yes I know of the car but as yet not the owner. I have taken about 40 photo's of this car for details.
I think's been restored Just right. It's not a gloss finish if you know what I mean ( eg the USA way )
If any one does know the owner I would love to catch up one day. I last saw the car some years ago, at a PCGB do at Highclear so that must be 2001 ish..
Great car and I hope I can get mine to look like that in the future.
thanks for the pictures as all mine are on film.. ( gosh that was along time ago !!!!!!! )
I need a few of these for the new 356 register web site I am finishing off..
here's a hint.
So I just need to ask a certain person for help making stickers up.. I will be funding these myself. So if you send details of your car for the register LHD or RHD in a club or not in a club.. with a Porsche engine or with a VW engine I don't care as long as it's a 356 and in the UK.. I want to hear from you..and you will get a sticker. More detail on the lauch of this project later.. just need some time to finish it..
Hi
the Pre A used to be mine ,I imported it in 1992 from sunny ohio replaced a bodged RH sill and A post and went motoring , It went to Stuttgart , Venice , south of France ,Le Mans , and Cornwall a few times once with a surf board on its roof , fun times . When Geoff bought it from me he wanted it smartened up before he showed it to his wife so it had the manky bits removed , not too much really , and was repainted by a friend of mine , Its chassis No is 51187 engine No 32000 and its a two peice case 1500 normal which actually goes very well with only oil temp being an issue on high speed hot day runs , at night it ran at around ninety all night across France with no probs. The motor was rebuilt by me a few years ago , it had a blowing head and a lttle end rattle and it seemed wise to have a proper look as these engines are a bit thin on the ground.. Geoff is a great chap and loves the car , the horn grills are the result of an accident many years ago as the front panel was changed very neatly , it was actually built Aug '53.
I am a person of simple pleasures so if you don't have any simple pleasures to offer me, beer, pizza or Porsche bits etc kindly leave me be, XX.
