EFI Setup for 3.0

Post by 1972_911t »

Considering selling my EFI conversion kit, I have virtually everything you need to perform the CIS to EFI conversion on a 3.0, the only bit missing to complete the conversion is the O2 sensor. I have a large intake runner cis intake/air box, new Tbitz ECU with base program, new injectors, new air and engine temp sensors, wiring looms fuel pressure reg, injector bungs and fuel rails and mounting hardware. All brand new and in the UK. The cost for the injection setup is around $1600 plus shipping and duties.

Looking for £800 without the spare intake or £950 with it.

Would ideally like to do an exchange for some PMO 40-46's or webbers.

Dare I ask why the change of plan ? If you need a hand with the EFI conversion, from the electronics point of view, I'm happy to help.
May be worth putting this on Impact Bumpers also.
Cheers

Hi Tim

My main concern is with tuning, at the minute I just want the easiest rout to getting the car up and running and at least with carbs I can pay someone to set them up and they will be done. Im concerned that if I run into tuning issues there’s very few professionals out there who are knowledgeable with MS. Im sure I could eventually work thorough any issues but time is a big concern for me at the minute.

I had always rather hoped that my car would be up and running by now,, so that I could demonstrate the ease of tuning. It might be worth a chat with someone like Bob Watson to see what his thoughts are, but really MS is not really any different to most of the other systems out there. A chat with John Glynn too might be in order. I am sure he has the Bitz racing kit too, like you, probably not fitted yet.
I got a 250 bhp Maserati Biturbo up, running and driveable in about 1/2 an hour of driving ! I understand that the worry of busting a newly rebuilt 911 engine (and the costs !!) are somewhat morre "focusing" than playing with a £1k worth of 80's Maserrati !
I understand your concerns though, but I really believe in EFI, and MS as a way forward.

Steve,

Don't worry too much about tuning on the Tbitz kit, it really is just plug & play. I fitted one on my 911 a year ago, it ran fine straight out of the box. I drove mine all last summer on Tony's basic map without any re-mapping.

Hi Jim thats what im hoping for, however my setup is running higher compression than Tonys base config is setup for, and im also running DC20 cams which will impact on the VE. Will have to see if it doesnt sell ill go with it but carbs seems like a nice easy alternative at the minute.

Steve,

Have you seen the Bitz Racing group on Yahoo? http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/bitzracing/

I am sure I have seen someone on there with the same cams as you.

You know me too well mate! LOL

I haven't done mine as really I want to drop the motor to do some other jobs also and not had the time and space yet. Also I'm going to go with a diff system - Jenveys and a DTA ECU - so just might rebuild this SC motor and put them on there from the word go, leaving the C3 engine as it is - i.e. working and worth something.

I have bought a couple of cheap 944s to play with the MS on, cut my teeth on the cheap stuff as Tim says.

Put it on eBay Steve, see how you get on.

ps: I have DC20 cams, Noah was running them with the MS setup. He reported no problems.
