I only have little BP7ES in my T, one day I tune it enough to warrant a '9'

Sounds like I'm in good company then
What plug gaps are you running john?
At the moment mine are at 0.030 , but I'm not sure if this is too large with my stock ignition

Hi
I have just pulled out my plugs today to do a tappet check before le mans and I was telling fibs, my plugs are NGK B8EVX. I have gapped them at 0.7mm.

Had a chat with Bob Watson & he recommends NGK B8 EGV
I'll report back my findings

There's nothing wrong with those Gary - that Cumbrian bloke stuck 12 of those back in Charlotte's car during the rebuild
Not sure how the 13th in the glovebox works though

My new NGK b8egv arrived today

They're not cheap !
They have a very fine electrode compared to the plugs I have swapped them for .
OLD PLUGS:
NEW PLUGS:
Bob Watson reckoned they came gapped correctly so I have fitted them as they came out of the box , which turned out to be 0.025" .
Initial impressions ? .... straight away my idle was a lot smoother and the engine seemed slightly quieter too. The popping & banging at idle appears to have gone, but this only really showed itself after a steady run at lowish revs on the motorway. Out on the road it pulls smoother and again sounds quieter. I can't quite work out if the top end is quite the same, but I might try opening the gap to 0.026.
Overall I'm very pleased

The run to Le Mans & back will give the full story.

Is it me, or does that plug look to be running a weak mixture? I'd be looking for a light tan colour..... maybe the same colour as the 'shed' in the background of the photo.

Probo not the best photo, but agree the plug was not on the rich side. It had just been removed after a while ticking over & I know the car had to be set on the lean side around idle to ensure teh top end was fuelled right . All the plugs were nice & clean with a light tan colour. The MFI has been set up by Bob only 4000 miles ago so I'm not concerned at this stage. I'll see how my new plugs look once I have some miles on them.
