CLASSIC LEMANS – DDK CAMPING ***** IMPORTANT NEWS*****

I have just received confirmation of our DDK Camping allocation from ACO , which I need to confirm & pay for within the next 2 weeks.

Even though I have had a ‘booking’ with ACO for Maison Blanche since October 2007, for a number of reasons we have been allocated camping in Karting Nord. Unfortunatly this is ACO’s decision.

So for Classic Lemans 2008 DDK will be camping @ Karting Nord.

Before anyone gets all upset I better point out some background information.

1. If we had not all booked together as a group we would have ended up split all over the place , with some DDKers at Maison Blanche ( and remember it is now numbered plots so you would not have been next to other DDKers ), others at Karting Nord & others else where.

The aim was to make sure ALL DDK members could camp together.

2 . It seems Maison Blanche will now have numbered ( 35 squre meters ) and due to work on the driver training track there is now less space.

3. Due to this a group the size of ours is better suited to karting Nord where there are no numbered pitches & we can have a bit more of a free for all setting out our DDK camping area :)

Now lets remember, there is nothing that special about Maison Blanche apart from one of the grandstands was nice & close. From those who know both sites it has been said Karting Nord is slightly better.

For those who don’t know Karting Nord, here is a quick bit of info ( relevant to the 24hrs rather than classic)

Karting Nord

Situated on the infield road towards Arnage, this site is a good compromise if you think Houx is too far a walk from your tent when you want to see the track. Everything is within 15 minutes walk, and the track can be seen from the campsite.

2008 Update There are no changes to karting Nord this year - it will not have any numbered spaces and size & facilities remain the same.

* Pros: Great for watching the go karting (crashes!), good viewing of track action, & good toilets

* Cons: Noise from the track for those that like to sleep.

Sounds spot on :)

Now we know where we are camping I’m happy & looking forward to a huge DDK camping area . Karting Nord will make a refreshing change & with some new views of the track 8)

Please remember, in addition to all camping together you have each saved 16 euros postage costs.

Hope know one feels aggrieved about this, but it is out of my control. If anyone has any issues please post here or pm me.

Remember, Maison Blanche looks like this at the moment !! ::

Time to look forward to blasting through France in your Classic Porsche & camping with fellow DDk'ers at the home of endurance racing 8)

Yes, thanks Mike :)

I will be posting a list tomorrow of who has / hasn't paid.

I have to confirm & pay for the tickets next week or else our order will be cancelled, so anyone who has not got money to me by next week won't get a DDK camping pass.

Thanks James

I think it's more important that we are all together in one place rather than where we are.

No problem James, at the end of the day it's just a field with some grubby bogs at one end which ever campsite you go to :)

Cheers for sorting it all out. 8)

at Karting Nord the pits/team areas are nice and close for those that buy the pits pass :)

Think it looks great, Gary At least we can push your car to the pits from there

To be honest Maison Blanche was really noisy so I am sure this will be no worse,

Should be good, will it be easier for the parade laps?

Well done James, I don't care where we camp as long as everyone has a good time.
