I've been reading the forums and need some info on converting a 356A to rhd. From what I understand it's easier to do than the B or C models. Has anyone converted from left to right ?
Any info regarding the changing of the dash and steering system would be appreciated and the best way to do it..

Dont hold me to this- but Rocket280 HAD an old knackered rhd b/c which he kept rhd sheet metal for.
Might be a handy reference/source...

Don't really have any tips on a RHD conversion, but won't it be really difficult to get parts for a conversion like this?
I would have thought that most RHD A cars will be restored now, unless really bad and then probably won't have any useful parts left anyway. And of course there's the cost of get the right parts as well.
Why not leave it as a LHD and enjoy?

You are correct an `A` is easier /cheaper to convert than a B or C due mainly to the considerably differences in the front boot area

However, if you are going to do it - `Do it properly` - or all you do
is de-value a LHD Car

I was looking at a NOS RHD B dash today,and under close inspection it looks like the factory cut out the glove box on the LHD Dash made the same cut around the gauges,which is very tight and welded them opposite sides,the weld is beutifully neat,Ive look at two RHD dash's now and both are the same,was this how it was done,instead of the factory making up a different press?

I think I have a rhd 'A' dash in the garage somewhere. will need renovation but from what I remember it's very decent.

I won't hunt for it unless you say you're interested.

btw - I wouldn't convert a decent car unless it was a total resto, leave it as 'god' intended

I was going to do this on my T6 B and got a RHD dash and was slowly gathering the parts...


...ended up loving LHD and the money is better spent on restoring the parts on the car that need restoring!

Roger Bray told me what to look for

biggest problem for me was going to be the handbrake.(apart from completely removing and replacing the bulkhead/petroltank rack pedals etc, doesn't sound a lot when you put it that way)

Good luck, enjoy the LHD they aren't that bad as someone else has said before there's a bigger market for LHD when you want to sell it!
