and a 912 plate..

and even then it would be expensive..

Sorry but some one is fishing for a market that is not there, much like in America at the moment with 912's at $20-30,000 then every man and his dog things his is worth just as much

things like this get my back up.. Anyway my 912 is now for sale at £50,000 I know it's expensive but I'm looking for a mug with a city bonus!!!

but it is funny I am sure it;s a nice car no doubts there but it's funny to say the least a car none of us have seen.. and it's saying that it's the best 912 in the uk.. sorry but I have to say the best 912 in the uk at the moment has to be Gavins I would also but Hunters up there and also soon to be added John's Begie one..Oh and Andy's old Orange 69 912 as well Ian's is the closest to this car and if you ask Ian what he could get for it I doubt it will be this price by a long way...

the thing is with all these adverts it will push the market price up and up as more people will believe that there car is worth more money

the last one on gumtree is only 90percent finished needs prepping for paint!!!!!

yep told you... it started in Ca with Don who listed a 69 912 for $25,000 and it was a well sorted car he then sold it for $23K so this started the bench mark and since then it seams alot of guys are trying to follow. European collectables known for sky hi prices seam to also like this trend and offered wrecks for $8-10K

The guys in Holland and Begium have in the last year also put their cars for very high money a soft back targa for 35,000 euro's

it's a slippy slope... just means that 912's prices will come down with a crash and some people will get stung!! I dout insurance companies will be hard pushed to accept values higher than these 300% + figure.. don't forget the insurance companies see any top of it's game 912 at £8,000. They would accept + 50% for a well sorted one and you have to pay the agreed value but 300% I'd like to see some one get insurance to agree to that!!

What's the problem Guys? Things are changing, Porsche aren't making 912's any more and the choice of good ones is going to diminish. So, prices will go up and the value of good ones which aren't for sale will keep pace.

Insurers charge a percentage value so if the general market goes up, so do agreed values and annual premiums.

I have never owned a 912 but if I wanted to buy one, one of the things which I would take into consideration would be restoration costs - professional or DIY. Frankly, I doubt if it costs much less to restore a 912 than to do a similar job on a 911. and we know what that costs - don't we?

The problem is Bob that proper priced cars are more than available I bought a 66 912 recently for $4700 (£2350) in the states nice solid car older resto and runs well. Should I bring that back to the uk and ask 20,000 euro's to see if I can get a big bucks buyer.. based on that 34K price..

I am sure that is exactly what some dealers will do (and always have done). The fact is that anything is only worth - in a financial sense - what someone is prepared to pay for it. Some people will do their research and buy at a sensible price, others will assume that the asking price, particularly from a professional outlet, is close to the value. If they can afford it, that's what they will pay.

The thing is the hassle factor.

How much to pay to have the car right now ,sorted, taxed, registered, MOT'd sit in and go.

But I agree £20k difference EEEEKK!!
