Hiya,
Just checking in to a pretty nice forum after seeing it mentioned in a magazine (the owners piece with a silver and a yellow rs )

I have just bought a 1972 car that had been rebuildt into a 1974 3.0RS replica externally, but the interior has yet to be made lightweight which is my project over the winter. So I have been scouring the website and reading where everybody gets bits from to RS their interiors.

From research, it seems that IROC cars had 3.0rs flares and bumpers but also wore 9"/11" rims, so I was continue with that theme and finish it off as an IROC car...albeit with martini livery.

Engine-wise mine is an oddball, as it has a 3.2ltr fitted so have a few mods in mind for that too.

I am picking it up later this week and looking forward to getting stuck in with half-cages, ST seats, harnesses, prototipo wheel, lightweight carpets and doorcards.

This is my first Porsche as I have been a Lotus owner for a while and still have an S1 Exige in the garage with a 2.0 Honda VTEC engine that has been supercharged to 330bhp (enough to push 775kg arond). The porsche will be the "classic sportscar" and as such going for period race-look and avoiding new-fangled bling like carbon fiber etc..

So my apologies for any silly questions, but I shall abuse the search function before going that far.

Welcome to the forum.

A few of us have had a some 'Essex Boys' meets in the Horse & Groom just up the road from you, but they fizzled out when the weather got cold :(

Maybe start them again in the spring & see how your winter project went.

Welcome - nice car, I have a thing for the IROC style of 911.

I'm sure we can help you with the interior questions etc.

One of my cars runs Rs style door panels, Nurgburgring seats, back seat deletion etc. All easy to source

Welcome

Nice Car ....and as for the 3.2 ...its probably one of the best engines so unless its got any issues its a great powerplant for a lightweight rep to have fun in

Ok.. shes home, finally.. What a fun drive home along by local backroads. Those 9"/11" tyres do enjoy tramlining, but nothing new to me as it adds to the whole experience.
Of course the oil temp decided to die on the drive home but thats hopefully just a sensor... also I need to take a look at changing the oil in the gearbox as the G15 is a little unhappy between 1st and 2nd (but not bad )

But wow.. great torquey engine and the whole old sporstcar feel brings a smile to face, hooning around the roads. 8)

Sooo.. tomorrow involves going thru the car with a fine toothed comb, she needs new tyres as these ones are old and hard so will fit a set of TB15s in the spring as she will be up on Jackstands by mid december and no reason to have them sitting around.

thats me in love with my 911..

Hello Carsten,

I really love from your car.
I saw it at "Le Mans Classic 2008". I was with my brother and when we see your RS at the entry of camping we decide to camp near you.
I come to le mans with an 3.0 SC Chocolate, and we are neighbor for 3 tops day.

PS : And to take the hood the humbrella is super  =>my dream.
