Hi,

I've been into early dubs for a long time and know my stuff there, and am buying a 912. Im going to check over a SWB '67 5 dial 5 speed car on sat. I've already bought it (ebay) and am just checking its as straight and honest as the guy has said.

What should i check for? Im particularly worried about hidden rust spots and checking over the engine properly. Could anyone give me a checklist of things to go over mechanically and body wise?

Any advice would be great

Hi Jan,

A certain Nicholas Moss put a website together with some pointers how not to buy an early 911, as did transend.

Mechanical wise, some 356/912 people will chirp in soon, but here are a few pointers:

Hi Jan I know the car well so I am going to be as honest as I can

It's a good car, no horror stories that I know of. Darren has keept the car in good condition. He used it daily for a while so that's a good commitment, I think.

He drove about 40-45 mins each way to work each day. I only remember one incident with the accelerator rod, which was fixed and made us all check ours..

I also remember the car in California, San Fransico, I drove it with Greg the then owner ( who is fussy about what he buys At the time he only sold this car because he found a really mint burgandy 69 car, other wise I am sure he would still have the car today ) . It's an older restoration and it still looks very good today. I am not aware of any rust issues or horrid stories and I read the dsicription on the ebay and it's no lie.

However it's your money so I would also agree people like Nick Moss and Alan UK would be good to check over the car. To give you an even better picture on the condition.

It's good to see these cars bringing in new members, I know Darren will miss this car. If it wasn't for losing his garage he would still have her. That's London Living eh!! not for me..

But that's a lot cheaper than mine.

I'm not in London (suppose that probably makes a bit of difference) but mine is £175 fully comp with Footman James for a 29 year old on a classic policy.
