Hi folks, been into aircooled's since before I could drive & owned everything from Cal-look Bug to campers to VW412. Now my mid-life crisis is imminent I thought I'd better get something sexier
The "beast" in question is a '75 914 2L in Yellow (wouldn't have been my 1st choice but it's growing on me!) Plans are afoot for early bumper conversion then a hot-street motor but as soon as the 1st grit hits the roads she coming off for a full stripdown and resto - not that it really needs 1, I just miss the good ol' days (used to own VW Workshop.....aaah, them were the days!!!

)
Will post pics when I can work out how to do it......

Welcome to DDK , and welcome also to the wonderful , yet slightly disturbing, world of 914 ownership .
You are in good company in that part of the world

btw Yellow is definitely a top three appropriate colour for a 914 .
Good choice !
The two yellow 914's pictured here are in their native South Wales
and my very own Yellow Peril

Welcome.
My 914 is yellow too, it just has a layer of guards red over the top.

Got a set of Riviera wheels coming from the US plus getting a pair of early style bumpers & binning those rubber blocks!

A lesson soon learned by most who enjoy
driving their 914 !
It always amazes me how these cars can go from being one of the most sure-footed and predictable in the dry , to a real pain to enjoy in the wet .
Really are Jeckyl and Hyde

It WAS fun tho, once the adrenaline kicked back in & restarted my faltering heartbeat, not sure whether the chap I was overtaking at the time enjoyed it so much mind......

Ian, good friend of mine owns Peregrine Estate agents on that roundabout.... don't know how much more use it's going to get tho - it's making a noise which I've heard on the type 4 motors before when the valve guides start rattling! D'oh!
Didn't see the silver one - honestly, doesn't he know the Yellow-only rule!

Welcome from another (SWestern) yeller '14. Look forward to meeting up sometime - when mine comes back from its surgery (battery acid - corrosion - suspension leg - bugger) session at Roger Bray's, I'm planning a celebratory hike up for a blast around the Black Mtns and Brecon Beacons. dare we meet up? Yeller with Yeller??
All the best
The AA
