1970 ignition urgently needed

ignition & keys for a 1970 911 will but complete set if available.
i am getting desperate now. i'm starting to consider drastic measures.

unfortunatly not as the wiring is diffrent.

Can't the electrical switch bit on the back be swapped from one to another ?

I was told that the contact pattern in the switch is different in the later cars which means rewiring the whole thing.

Larry,
The mecanical part of your old switch broke, yes ?
The part that engages with the electrical part of the switch, yes ?
So, unscrew the electrical part from the replacement mechanical part, 2 screws from memory, and transfer the mechanical part to the original electrical part (still connected to the car ? )
Make sense ?

Hi Helen- Have you sorted out you ignition problems? I have just scrapped a 1971 2.2T, and have all the locks and keys available,along with all sorts of other bits and pieces.all DIRT CHEAP!!!!

we gave up looking/buying second handones as they always seem to be a problem with them. (so far i think we have wasted nearly £350 trying to buying old locks & keys)
we found stoddards (USA) do brand new porsche locks (porsche themselvs said they no longer do them for pre 1973 cars) so we have just received a new lock & keys from them.
only to find the electrical connection is completly diffrent to the one on the car. luckily its easily changed using the one on our original lock.
can't tell you what a nightmare this has been. I'm still waiting for Larry to get around to fitting the new lock, i won't beleive we have the problem licked untill its in the car ad working.
Nick Moss you can have your key back very soon....hopefully
