Should I join TIPEC? (also)

Hey there,

It's insurance renewal time of year in the swapped house hold

We've sorted the house and contents, and I've also dealt with the 914 - Chaucer underwriting Adrian Flux with a price-match, resulting in £115, which will do fine.

Also sorted Mrs swapped's Saab, with a very nice deal involving getting cash back from the online broker, amounting to over half of the premium.

However...

I declined to take the legal protection on her Saab, and will do the same in the next couple of weeks for mine, which amounts to a total 'saving' of £45, BUT I do want legal cover (following on from the uninsured driver 'incident' whilst NOT covered for legal expenses a couple of years ago  ).

SO,

My intention was to use £40 of the £45 to take membership of TIPEC, which comes with suitable legal protection as a member benefit - but I don't feel any particular affinity with TIPEC, and don't think I'll attend meets (I am prepared to be seen to change my mind on this, but DDK does fine on its own for me), so will I find other benefits in TIPEC membership - ie is the magazine any good (bearing in mind that while I enjoy lots of things about lots of cars, it's 914s that do it for me, not Porsches per se)?

Or ideally, (deep breath) can anyone point me at an alternative, legal-protection-just-like-you-get-on-car-insurance-but-covering-all-your-cars-at-once-for-less-money-in-the-same-way-as-the-TIPEC-offer, well...offers, but-for-less-money-due-to-not-having-to-also-pay-for-meetings-and-magazines-I-don't-need?

Ta,

Carl

I had no idea that Tipec membership included this sort of cover.

i have been a Tipec member for several years but this year i haven't re-newedmy membership as i get everything i need from DDK . ..

IMHO Tipec is mainly aimed at the 924/944 and new cars,

Been to the last couple of TIPEC shows and there's always been a shed load of 911s and all the watercoolers. Last year there was half a dozen 914s this year there was none.

yes but many of the people and cars at the Tipec Main events are not Tipec Members.

DDK had its own stand for 2 years running.. we could maybe do so again in 2008 if there is anough interest?

heres me setting up the Gazebo in 2005

I went to the last two tipec events, and didn't see many early cars at this years event.

Although it was very very wet this year there was still a few early cars, but no more than you can count on one hand - including mine.
