looks reasonable - plenty of amp hours for those flooded engine moments!

Question is will the standard charging system be able to charge the larger capacity battery ok? - my guess is yes but would like confirmation :?

I realised the std battery cover wont fit but my last experience of 6V was on an old Ghia many years ago and found myself wondering if it'd start every time I put the key in it :? So I dont mind having a bigger than average one

Steve

Sorry about the dodgy link - cant get the page to link up direct

Hi Steve.

The real problem with 6V batterys is that people don't fit the correct AH for their cars.

As I understand it...The black art of auto electrics that is....
The Amp Hours are the rate in which a battety can recharge and hold a charge during use..
So if you have a VW 45AH battery on a 356 then this is fine until it is dark, pissing down with rain and you have the radio on... The car is fine while drive but when you come to start it in the morning...Nothing !!! as flat as your hat.
This was probably the problem with your KG.

The standard 356 battery is 84Ah (I think off the top of my head).
This is perfect for any 356, even with spot lights.
We have never had a problem...Only problems with 50 year old wires and earths.
