It's a funny story about that bug. I think it was featured in the 356 Registry a while back. From what I remember the guy has owned it from new. He owned a VW/Porsche repair shop in the 60's. A guy came to his shop complaining about the troublesome Carrera engine fouling its plugs and such like. The bug owner offered to trade the motor for a pushrod 356 motor and also took the associated parts as payment for the work. So that bug has the motor, brakes and gauges. What a killer deal!

That is a killer deal, probably outstripped by the guy that bought a job lot of 912 (numbered engine bits) who bought himself a load of 917 engine spares. 912 being the prefix on 917 parts.

To stop anything 'nasty' from dropping in there (whilst the car is parked) & finding its way into the engine...

HI 912phil.
If the engine has not had any bits changed and the carb's are correct for the engine then this is what it should be;
Type 692/3.
Engine No p-95 001 to p-95 112.
Year 1959-1960.
1,6 liter, GT model with plain bearing crankshaft, oil cooler, no car heating, muffler without silencing elements in tail pipes, A-10 clutch, carb's heater, 2 duel downdraft Weber 40 DCM 2 carb's oil pump 692 and distributors driven by worm drive from the crankshaft.

regards mike
