What speakers have people fitted to their 914 and where? Whats the best way to mount a new stereo without cuting the dash? Does anyone have any spare uncraked, complete speaker panels?

Dammit, I found a nice pair of speaker grills as Husbourne -if i knew you needed a pair I'd have picked them up. Think it was on gmund cars? hoarde,

My car came with the speakers fitted down either side of the foot wells. They are mounted on to plastic cases which from what I can tell are just surface mounted.
If you're looking for a decent sound you're going to need a sub-woofer etc.
I managed to squeeze a bass speaker inside the centre consul hehind where the guages with limited success. I guess there's always the option of putting a 1000w sub-woofer in the front under the bonnet

well nobodys made any serious enquireies so

ca't say i'm too disappointed as its a fantastic car.

But i am always open to offers on any of my cars.. tey are just cars at te end of the day

i've just got to learn how to tweek it and keep it happy.

I was going to say I should start saving the pennies so my 14 could get a big brother..................But thats not going to happen as I have just decided to become a student again.

For day to day use the 48 carbs on your car are a bit crazy. You could sell the 48's and get smaller carbs more suitable for your needs and not be out of pocket.

The 48's are very popular in VW circles for flat out drag racing. You might be better off with 44IDF's

Just my pennys worth.

I do like the flat 4..but the finest audio solution is definitely a six..

I have a set of original 914 speaker pods that came out of the '74 but one is unfortunately damaged. There's a bad melt/burn mark on the grill

It's still useable but just doesn't look great. From memory I think it's the PAX side. They both come with original Blaupunkt speakers still installed. If you're interested, PM me and I'll send some pictures

Just a quick update. After trying to figure out how to stealth a new stereo, I decided to take the easy route. 1 x plastic din mount, some screws and bolts and hey presto.

I found that alpine do a set of 6x4 150w speakers which seem to do a grand job. They are only 39mm in depth, so dont foul/touch on heat ducting.
