Seems quite hard to find either new or good used SWB front wings at the moment.

We have just fitted an SC front wing to a 912 ew are repairing for Max at Revival Cars.

we have reduced the flare on the SC wing using a Piccolo Shrinker and the wheeled the wing to the correct flare.

The filler panel between the light box and the wing edge has been prssed using some prototype tooling and thern welded in place.

Time for lead loading and finishing.

Cor: that's a nice toy to have access to, a Kraftformer is on my 'one day' list .

I'm amazed that this hasn't been made into a DIY kit yet (as of now), as you say, there's such a demand for early wings.

Actually, with the Piccolo, did you make up a dedicated tool for the arch?

Yeap, what you say is right Jeff, it seems the pre '73 wings are becoming increasingly difficult to find! I'm thinking of doing the same with my "Turbo" ones, but I'd need the light box...

Where can I find both (left and right) light boxes?

You used to be able to by the LWB light box section as a Porsche produced panel, but they were out of stock the last time I checked. I normally cut good ones of any old wings, just in case. The other slight variance is the minor difference in the wing curve below the headlight bucket. Post 73 wings, are (in my opinion slightly flatter) and do not have the more pronounce curve of the factory pre 73 front wings. This tends to show up more when the indicator units are fitted.

Porsche used to supply a repair panel for the bottom of the light box but it didn't replace the entire light box only the lower face and the three 'uprights'
We manufactured the light boxes shown from scratch and made a tool to press the filler panel and wheel arch section.

The upper return on the light box can be formed from the SC wing and a minor amount of re-shaping is needed.

The SWB wing is also slightly more complex than the LWB wing in the internal construction of the lightbox and the flare is quite different.

Converting SC wings to early LWB is a bit easier and is relatively cost effective.
