Do later Calipers (post 72 I think) fit on 71 cars?

MXI914 failed it's MOT last week on handbrake and front calipers binding (not that bad considering it's not been used since October).
The Robster and myself were discussing whether later 914 calipers will fir earlier cars? Is it just the stub axles/uprights that are different?

If not, anyone got a decent pair of early front calipers or even 911 struts, discs and calipers going spare??

Bad luck Adam, I have a feeling that the only difference in the strut was the way it clamped to the ball joint -early ones used a screw then a tapered pin (or vice-versa).
When I first got my car it had 1 early + 1 late strut and I'm pretty sure the bolt spacing was the same.
Have you got a copy of the 914 P.E.T. -If not I'll have a look when i get home.

You can get the PET online as a .pdf HERE

The part numbers are different and I don't know whether they're interchangable. The brake disc part number changes at the same chassis number as the caliper & I vaguely know there is a back spacing of friction surface from the road wheel mating surface change as we tried to fit late T3/4 discs ('73) to an '03 cabrio & it didn't work. Whether that effects what you're trying to do...
(I've left this image huge so you can read it)
