Hello,
I'm thinking about waxoyling the 914 and wanted to hear any comments, if any??
To be honest I've no idea what it is other than a form of preventing rust.
Is this something that can be done yourself? If so what does the job involve?

Dinitrol stuff is reckoned on being much superior to Waxoyl

It can be done yourself, its very messy, basically it involves spraying a liquid form of rust preventative wax into all your cracks and crevices, box sections arches, etc. There are different products for different areas, e.g. thinner (more watery) for injecting into box sections and thicker stuff for high impact areas such as wheel arches. Its all DIY but having access to a compressor and suitable applicator helps.

There are companies that do this for, not sure on cost but suspect around £200-350??

To be honest, if you dont have a compressor and the rest of the kit, pay someone else to do it
Just done the voids in my recently restored shell, and tried the plastic hand pump kit you get from Halfords ! Believe me, you need the compressor et al !

Agreed, much better than Waxoyl.

I use both well waxol stuff for the floor and under the arches and then the stuff from www.rust.co.uk for the internals..

I have a compressor and the waxol goes right up in there and is very good well i think so.. hand help pumps.. yeah right... who thought of selling those must have been wetting them selves knowing how many heart attacks people would have over the weekends pumping the dam things..

I've got access to a compressor and a set of ramps so I guess I'm half way there.
Does this stuff spray straight on or do you need to rub down any surface rust? I know with the old fashioned underseal you had to remove all traces of rust otherwise it would just make things worse.

I dunno what my one goes like yet I've only gone to the mot centre and home so far (less than 1 mile away), wasnt tempted to take the long way around it's just not worth it if you get caught, or something unfortunate happens.

Others I have been in are comparable to the 914 performance wise I'd say, that'll be good enough then
