'A' or 'B'?

Just a simple question this, but could be divisive I guess...
I'm about to buy my first 356. I will be buying from one of two well-known specialists and have narrowed it down to one of two cars. One is an 'A' (but with a 'C' engine), and the other is a 'B' with correct 'B' engine. They are basically the same price and same good condition.
I'll be doing local commutes and hope to get the chosen car strong enough to do European jaunts... What would you go for - the 'A' or the 'B'?

Personally I think an 'A' is the best looking 356 & I would always choose one over a 'B' ( all things being equal)

Hmm good one.. A all day long BUT the B is matching ( is the engine the correct one for that car as we.. )
A 's look so much better I think..
So the question back is
Vanity or orginality..?

If it were me (I wish it was) all other things being equal, it would boil down to health of the motor - when last rebuilt and by whom, mainly cos youre going to be driving around Europe.
Also, surely when you look at and drive the cars, one says Yeah, Baby! just a little more than the other?

personally from this choice i would go for the A just for the looks, and the bonus of a better engine with easier parts availabilty(for the engine.) In my opinion a B is neither here or there, unless its a super 90 or Roadster.
I Had this problem myself, when looking for an A or a C i eventually went for a C mainly because parts are much easier and slightly cheaper than early cars and i already have one very old VW bus, so i wanted something 60's rather than 50's.
Good luck

Thanks all - you're all confirming what I think I know anyway - the 'A' just has the edge somehow. Just have to see how they drive I guess.
912uk - your question back is a good one. I think "vain" is the way forward on this one! I'll have Carly Simon playing all day long...!

Choice of A or B eh?
Yes I'd definitely go for the C
Seriously though, I'd probably go for the A.

It must be the 'A' and with 'C' engine.
What is stopping you?
'B's are for girls! oops forgot I had one
Good luck.

Seems pretty unanimous - assuming the 'A' drives as well as I'm hoping I think it's in the bag...

Indeed. Do you know anything about it? Should I be scared? (They've got two red ones actually....)

You should go with the one that gives you the most thrill when you look at it and drive it.
Lets face it you're the one who is going to use it for the next few years.
Which ever you choose, it'll be a LOT of fun!

A for looks and the later engine.
If you are going to use it!!
B if you want to say it has matching numbers
But you're gonna outlaw it anyways so machin numbers goes out the door.!!
Although I own a B I have to say I wish I'd gone for the RHD A with Barry Curtis engine when I got mine, but it was twice the price!!
