Is it ok to keep the cold start enrichment solenoid that is fitted to the top of the fuel filter operational. Were there any safety issues with this in the past.

Hi

the cold start solenoid is notorious for causing fires on MFI cars, the worst type is the one that supplies fuel to a rail that’s in the air box, latter ones went into the throttle bodies.

The fuel line into the air box is circled

Hi,

I would use the cold start set up if fitted. Check it works first and that the time switch still works ok (use a voltmeter on the grey wire that plugs into the solenoid) and also make sure all the fuel and cold start lines are in good condition.

There are plenty of cars around where people have wired in there own switch, but they still use the cold start solenoid.
