Brown 1968 'L' Seats WANTED

Ok, I mentioned in another post that I found a feature in Car magazine from April 1968 with my little burgundy Sporto. Through this I've been able to work out what seats she should have in her.

After Porsche she was owned from 1972 until I bought her in 1996 by one chap - who ran a specialist aircraft seat company - he had his lads make him a pair of beautiful leather seats - but they're non-original

When he died, tragically the original seats were thrown out

So, I'm desperately after a MINT pair of 1968 'L' seats in brown - being '68 'L' they are unique in having the 'Elephant Hide' in the centre sections - rather than the basket weave.

I know it's a long shot (ok, it's a bloody long shot ) as these seats were only made for one model year  but there's always the possibility someone has them in a garage somewhere? :-)

If you've anything remotely close - or (ok, really clutching at straws here!) some of the elephant hide material in brown - let me know - cash waiting :-)

Can anyone help? TIA

Philip,

Have you asked Dave a t Southbound if he has any of this material? He has an extensive collection of odd bits of cloth.

Also might be worth ringing round the likes of Tuthill and Prill to see what they have in their sheds!

Good luck with the search

Yep - it was after the conversation with David going like this

"ok, so how much to have a roll made?" -

"oh, about €30 a metre" -

"oh, that's not so bad then...." -

"yes, but there is a minimum order quantity would mean cost of around, oooh, say £7,000?" -

" (gulp), ah, I see....."

So - the hunt is on.....
