Well I am final negotiations for disposing of my 72 LHD 2.4s at Autofarm and am replacing it with a 993 RS. Whilst I love the 2.4 and have spent an amazing amount of time and money getting it just right I want to be able to do the odd track day.

Thoughts on 993 RS values vs 2.4s over the next few years appreciated and I will miss the 2.4 massively. Hope ex early 911 drivers are welcome on the forum

Do let us know WHICH 993RS you're buying as there are a few with murkey histories out there

993RS's have been climbing recently - as have 2.4S's - trying to predict *which* will do better over the long run? Virtually impossible - but both should do pretty well over the long term......

.....provided the oil doesn't run out - in which case, WHO knows how much our treasured four wheeled possesions will be worth

P

it will be interesting to see where Autofarm pitch your 72 2.4S as I'm still trying to get a feel for an insurance value on my car

I have bought a 993RS in the last couple of months for my own use. I have been watching the prices for the last year or so and I would estimate that they have gone up around 10%, but its very difficult to evaluate from cars advertised as the market is small, the cars quite varied, and there are a few dodgy ones out there. I know of one LHD basic that was bought from a dealer in the UK a year ago, the dealer has recently offered to buy it back at a 10% pemium. Expect to pay £50ish for a nice car. The RHD market is even more rarified (at £65K+), but if you were happy with a LHD 2.4S don't bother. The 2.4S market is even more difficult to define, as they are so rare, especially in RHD form. I value cars for insurance purposes and I would have added around 15% to a 2.4S in that period.

As Philip says, beware of 993RSs, post the info on the car on the PCGB 993RS forum, most cars are well known.

thanks

thanks Nick, the 993 RS I am buying I am 99% is fine, it isn't on the known dodgy list. Hoefully see you on a track day ;)

If anyone wants a nice 72 2.4s LHD I guess mail me know before it goes to Autofarm and they add their bit on top!
