Newbie on the hunt for a car

Hello from another newbie joining the forum as part of my hunt for a classic 911!

From the limited research I've done so far I think I'm looking for a 69-73 911, probably and E, but could be flexible, LHD OK given my budget, which is about £15k. Not too precious about matching numbers and originality, but want it to be correct for the period as I may want to do a bit of classic rallying in it in the future. Only thing I'm really fussy about is I want a silver one.

I've kindly been sent some photos of GVO 300J which is currently available at Fuchs Porsche Broker. Awaiting some more details, but any info anyone has about the car appreciated. As would any other advice on my plans![/i]

welcome.

IMHO.
better to worry about getting a car in excellent condition for your money then worrying to much about the colour. having said that silver seems to be one of the more common colours to find porsches in so you might be lucky.

Thanks for the notice Steve. I'm currently aiming at a slightly later car, but I'll keep it in mind.

Thanks for the advice Helen and I agree, you're entirely right about being flexible on colour increasing my chances of getting a good car. By rights I should be open to other colours and probably will flex for the right car, but I really like silver.

All being well I should be test driving the previously mentioned car on Sunday. Can't wait for my first drive in 911!

This thread that's going at the moment offers some wonderful words of caution to any potential new early 911 owner.

Good luck in your search!
