Well done, it is looking fantastic. Nice to see that you are keeping the impact bumpers. I love the chrome trim Carrera 3s, was one of my three cars I was looking for when I bought mine. Look forward to seeing the finished article

I must say the before photos looked pretty good!!

Thanks for that its hard rebuilding a car. It was a bit shot before I started the rebuild, sills, poor paint, C pillars, gearbox rebuild, Engine rebuild, Supspension rebuild ect. the list goes on.

Its always the way, you start but replacing a spark plug, notice a bit of flaky paint next thing the car is in pieces.

My CIS is in pieces at the moment.........same theory

Very nice, that's looking great, I have a soft spot for Carrera 3's as well, especially the engines

Glenn, I know of a fantastic K-Jet specialist who can check that the components are within spec, not heinously expensive either.

Indeed, you start thinking the car is "presentable" then you start looking closer and closer, the paiting isn't that good, then the next thing you see, is the car in pieces that happened when I bought the Mustang :S the porsche still look nice hope the car does't become the pumpkin that fast .

HI Anthony sorry to put a spanner in the works but with the gearbox left hanging like it is the selector shaft is getting bent, and even more if the gear linkage is attached, nice job on the car .

oh dear, a length of 3x2 across the engine bay and some old seat belt wrapped around the gearbox tied over the wood will do the trick, did for me anyway.

Looking very good: nice detailing as well, certainly looking a bit straighter than in the first pictures .

Did you do the bodywork?

Were cars Galvanised back in 76 or do all cars pretty much need some welding -they are 30 years old after all?
Not that the welding looked extensive.

Yes, the bodies not inc the roof panels were galvanised for '76 model year and the bodies and roofs from '77 MY. Most impact bumpers are now staring at some rot somewhere, unless they have been apart or come from seriously dry climates/good homes.

Car looks really great Anthony, good job. Would love to see a more period tail on it if you ever trip over one. Obviously if you prefer the whale tail that is cool

No I did not, I did most of the pre welding work, but left that to really good guy Alan Wisher who did have a very good reputation restoring Classic Italian Cars such as 250 SWD, 365 ect. But early this year he closed his business.
