Hi all,
thought I would post a picture of the engine lurking in the back of the garage, that will make it's way into the robster mobile.....

Very nice Rob. Pressure fed chain tensioners too.
2.7 on Weber's -Did you get the Weber's separately? How's your parts collection going?

Hi James,
parts 'kit' is slowly coming together - I got the webers seperately.
1) Since photo, engine has 11 blade fan
2) Oil cooler is off to be modified so that the oil line won't foul the trailing arm.
3) 2.0L early flywheel & clutch
4) Oil tank, and bits from patrick Motorsport
5) Quick 6 mount (from patrick Motorsport).
7) I've tracked down some 'engine tin' at martin & Walker (which reminds me, I must order this up)
8) modified shift linkage (straight bar instead of standard one with kink, so it shouldn't hit the headers.
outstanding
1) Headers
2) silencer
3) throttle cable kit (though I might look at working an alternative).
4) instrumentation (must give Ian G a ring as he has some)
5) Oil lines
6) numerous bits & bobs
Things are coming along, but I am loath to actually drop the existing engine out of the car, until I have all the bits. I don't want to take the car apart until I have most of the bits I need, so 'winter project' might be a bit optimistic!
How is your conversion going?
kind regards
Rob

I'm pretty much in same boat but I have all the parts now with the acquisition of a factory tank. I will be starting the engine on the bench in the next few weeks (just to check for leaks and dial the carbs).
Who is modding your oil-cooler Rob and is the martin + walker tin glass fibre?
If you haven't got your linkage sorted yet I should be able to show you some pics of my modified linkage soon using modified 911 parts.
I agree about feeling a bit of trepidation over finally taking the 4cyl out...

Take my hat off to you fellas for going for it.
Having been through one conversion on the 911 I'm familiar with the challenges you face, but a FOUR to a SIX on a 914 presents so many more..
Good luck with everything chaps, it sounds like your both very nearly there parts wise.

Might be worth tapping Turbo Thomas up for some SS headers and silencer, he's done some work on Drummerboytom 914/6 exhaust/heat exchangers.

Rich (Turbo Thomas) is indeed someone you need to chat to. Good mate of mine and only lives round the corner. My 914 is having a new full system in Polished Stainless over the winter period. Good luck with the conversions , be intresting to see how quick your cars end up.
Nice one guys!

with your 2.7's I think you'll be quicker in the twisty stuff than my C3 powered 911....... maybe
One of you two must give me a passenger run when you're up and running

Darren, Mine is only a wheezy old 2.4T -prob struggle with the skin on a rice pudding

Glad to hear that progress is being made - even with the new addition to the household!
All I managed to negotiate was half an hour off last Sunday to warm up the '12!
Dug out the tacho and combo gauge Rob - sat on the bench.
I really need to get the '14 finished - am going to try and get some time agreed over the festive period to get all the last jobs done!

Wheezy? I think you'll be pleasantly surprised when it's up and running
of course a drive would be better, although things always seem that bit quicker from a passenger perspective, so would that be an offer James

Hi Darren,
yep, it's not a job for the faint hearted, but should be good when it is finally done. I am going to carry on accumualting parts until I have my 'kit' together. My only quandry is that the current engine is going great. One half of me wants to take it out, so i feel I am getting going, but if I don't get the bits together, the car will be in bits for a few months....
(Ian, I will call you soon. Sorry for the delay, but there always seems to be some 'baby stuff' to sort out! Bless him!)
If anyone is interested, I will start a thread when I get to start the install. Just don't hold your breath!
Finally, thanks for the tip regarding Turbo Thomas. I thought his work looked great on Tom's car. Only issue is that it is actually cheaper to get the exhaust from the USA with the current exchange rate, than it is to source in the uk.....
Darren, you are welcome to give it a go when the car is finally done....
kind regards
Rob

I recommend Turbo Thomas also. His work on my bus is superb.
