hi has anyone any idea or pics of how the twin horns are mounted in the front arch somthings can be hard to work out when they have been in bits for so long peter

In my car they were screwed to a bracket in front of the nearside front wheel arch. Very easy to get to if you just turn the wheel all the way around to the right.

presuming they are the same as the 912. then as Jamie says they are mounted on a bracket just behind each horn grill.

easier to get to if you can raise the car up.

That's odd - mine had two, both mounted behind only the nearside horn grille. Bitsa alert.

this is from the short wheel based 912 so maybe the 911 is diffrent ? i haven't looked.

Started driving to the MOT station the other say and realised the horn no longer worked. Only 34 years before failure! Very poor. Had to buy one for a mercedes from GSF to get it passed. Is a horn a horn or you think originality important here?

( i just know im going to regret asking this but) whats the bottle for above the horn?

well if you want to be excepted into the PCGB elite concourers then im afraid horn deffinatly matters

That should be the windscreen washer bottle, I should guess

Unless of course it is a special undercarriage cleaning equipment that is installed at each corner to spray an agent, under pressure, the arches and ancilliries clean....

ah you mean the special porsche designed rabbit guts removing washer bottle.

The plastic 'bottle' is part of the fuel tank vapour venting system.

Quite, but these guts do always leave a trace in the towing eye. Therefore, the system requires an extension which, no doubt, will be provided in version 3.0.

thanks guys i thought id lost some kind of plate as two horns and one bracket was becoming a bit of a puzzle sorted now thanks (till the next thing i forget how it goes should make notes or pics to keen to pull them to bits ) thanks again peter
