DDK - Die Deutschen Klassiker

Just heard from the guy that bought my 1966 silver 912 from me earlier this year...

He wrote it off over the weekend in a pretty bad accident The car next to him had a tyre blow out on the A40, swerved into him, spinning the 912 which then hit the central reservation backwards at 65mph.

It sounds as though the car is an absolute wreck, fortunately both he and his girlfriend walked away without a scratch

I've been offered the salvage by the insurance company......If its possible, I'll rebuild it. If not, it'll be a painful car to break up. All that work, and ten years of ownership. Gutted!

Max sorry to hear that. It's your worste nightmare all that work and it looked a sweet car as well. Glad all are ok lets hope it's not too bad to do some work to get it right again..

Being honest the whole back end is bent out of
shape and every near side panel from the front wing
backwards is destroyed. The near side rear corner
of the car is non-existent and the you can
visibly so a roof twist and the whole rear end shifted
to the right.

Max having played with writen off cars in my past. Once the bolt on's are off it's not too bad but. But hit from the rear hmmm might have bent it down at the back which could have broken it's back as such.. Still a rare car eg year worth a look. With any bad shunt like this it's the roof that is the pig to get right. Could be worth reshelling as there has been some cheap basket case cars in the US of late but some are at silly money wait till Jan when they have not takers and no money and they would be yours for a song..

Not good news by any means..

thanks goodness the couple are ok (says alot for the car's build quality) gutted for the car though.

Yep, its a shame - Even more so as it was my first car.

Part of the original sales deal, was that the guy would give me first refusal if he ever decided to sell it on. He kept his word, but I wasnt expecting to buy it back as a write off!

Yep, I guess the important thing is that the occupants werent hurt. If it cant be repaired, hopefully the parts can all be put to good use.

Very sorry to hear about the car. So sad. I think the 911 shell/shape is incredibly strong and it's good news no-one was hurt.

Max that's a great shame, glad the folks were okay. They are tough old cars for sure. Give me a call I know a great guy who could fix it, he's done worse race car damage by the sound of it, depends on cost though obviously. Let's try to save this one...

Did you see the 912 rolling shell up for sale in the classifieds £4500. It is the featured 912 track day car (Blood Orange) from 911&PW. Mabybe a chance for a ressurection.
