Mines in the shop, following a T/E rebuild,

but on getting it back last month was dissapointed to see
TOO MUCH smoke by far, on start up occasionally.

Now I've been keeper of this car for Five years now,
I know how much is allowed occasionally,
and how much smoke is unnacceptable,
so back it went for another fettle.

Dropping away the exhaust, he's found a spurt of petrol (unburnt)
leaving the port,
which suggests at least, either an injector/bosch system otherwise
the culprit.

but on changing all the injectors, it still does it.

over to the enthusiasts I think.

They are thinking/saying that,

it may have had a fueling problem
over some time, which may have gone unoticed,
since the oil smoking alone,
would have concealed
any excess fuel being lost as smoke,

which I can sort of see,

naturally I am sceptical, as I've seen a significant amount of cash going
on the top end.

Hello

If you think it's fuel related then I'd start by checking the fuel pressures first. system pressure, then cold running, then warm running and see if they are within spec.

I got a pressure tester made up this, you are welcome to borrow it for the price of the postage

http://www.ddk-online.com/phpBB2/viewto ... ure+tester

this will only test up to the metering head not beyond, so if the pressure numbers are good then it might be worth having the metering head checked out by a bosch specialist.

Also is the co level within spec? around 2.5% is good.

there's also some excellent info here on 911 K-jet: http://members.rennlist.com/jimwms/CIS/CIShome.html

hope this helps & good luck

Thats kind of you, thanks.

I'll discuss this with my man on Monday,
and if he would like to use it,
will can arrange with you.

He was explaining the development of systems used in cars since 70's
and how they've moved from mechanical to more reliable electrical modes

Obviously I'd done my own search (although on injectors) throughout the usual free sources,

I don't know really what to look for given the symptoms
so I'm hoping somebody on here could compare notes....
