Does anyone have a contact number for Tower Diesel? Are they still around? I have used them in the past to rebuild my MFIs and I have another one that needs doing.

I don't think they are around anymore Alan, this came up at the Fairmile last month and a chap (Stuart?) came along in a lovely orange S Targa recently used a company in Germany I think. Whoever and wherever it was I know he was very impressed. Hopefully he'll pop in and let you know.

What a shame. I wonder if there are any other compaines in the UK that can rebuild/calibrate MFI systems, ? or are we at the stage that they have to be sent abroad. Personally I think that would be a sad day.....

Apparently RS diesels sold all their tooling to Tuthills recently. Not sure if the expertise went with them. JZ send all theirs out to Germany so I hear.
Thing is a lot of other classics of the same period used these. Astons used them for a while and I believe Mercs did too. There are probably others. So I wonder what their owners are doing. Thing is these pumps work on the same principle as the pumps that are fitted to zillions of diesel cars around the globe. I'd have thought anywhere that can rebuild ordinary diesel pumps properly would have the skills to do one of these - they would just need the type specific toolng I guess and that is probably the sticking point.

Yep Tower diesel is arround or at least the guy that rebuilds the pumps is, I spoke to him about a 6 or 8 weeks ago, I have his number at home will post it/pm it asap.

If you are referring the Fred whom used to work there, a fellow DDK'er has already forwarded his number. As I didn't know if it could be done I ended up stripping the pump myself (bar the cam) and cleared each piston and also reset the problem piston to match the others and it seems to have worked !!

I would be glad of any leads on the company in Germany that rebuilds Bosch MFI pumps. As already mentioned RS Diesels are no longer and Tower Diesels do not seem to come highly recommended anymore. Both companies have had a go at mine over the past 12 years with varying degrees of success.

Most people seem to send them to JZ Machtech who them send them to this company in Germany who have taken over the machinary and tooling from Bosch themselves.

Had a long chat with Steve at JZ but no amount of trying would get him to spill the beans, anybody any idea's

I know it is over in the US, but Pelican has lots of recommendations for Henry at Supertec - http://www.supertecperformance.com/bosch.phtml

A local Bosch agent suggest that:

For those looking at getting thier MFI pump rebuilt/recalibrated/generally given some love and attention, the chap from Tower diesel is very much in business but has gone private. He's very happy to help, His details are as follows:

he's based in East London, and has a lead time of approx 5 - 7 days. To completely rebuild, recalibrate etc he charges approx £500.

There is a place in Germany, I believe in Nurnberg, called Koehler or Kohler. I could not find them on the net. You can find a link on Pelican about 6 months ago where Stijn Vandamme had his MFI rebuilt by these folks.

happened to see your note re contact number for Tower Diesels and the fact that someone mentionned i had used a Co in Germany.
I recently had a pump and throttle rebuild (& distributor recon) by Koller & Schwemmer - who did a fantastic job ( i have had the car (2.2S targa) and it has never run so well!
Reason i didn't use Tower Diesels was that i had used them twice before and they had failed to notice that my pump was a 911E pump rather than a 911S pump!!

If you ring up Steve Mchale at JZmachtech then he will recommend them as the best he has found.

I managed to fix mine, myself in the end. In fact, bar the calibration they are not that complicated.

I still can't figure out whether the euro prices quoted in the listings for my 2.2 S are for a rebuild of my pump sent or for an exchange unit.
They seem too cheap for new units.
