I've been looking at a 2.4s which is fitted with rs flared arches and painted non original colour - how much do you think this effects the value by???

At a guess, the cost of replacing the rear quarters (which are still available) and a bare metal repaint to original spec. After that, it is going to depend on what else is discovered once the paint comes off!

Also worth considering what the original colour was. If it was say chocolate brown as opposed to silver or viper green for example that would knock it again. Are the engine / chassis numbers matching?

numbers match - waiting to see the authenticity certificate

original colour orange, not sure which hopefully signal

was advised taht the arches and colour change could affect value by upto £10k - seems a lot?

Get a professional quote from someone who knows Porsches, for replacement rear quarters plus a bare metal re-spray. By the time new rubbers etc., are factored in, I doubt there would be much change from £10k! Given the prices now being asked for original 2.4S that might still make it a good buy, but probably not the bargain you were hopeing for.

Are they RS or SC arches. If RS I would leave them as they are in period, in fact some 2.4Ss left the factory with RS arches.

I'd agree with Nick on this - a beautiful 2.4S in silver has joined the DDK :-) and it has factory RS arches fitted later in its life - it sold for top money and the value certainly wasn't effected by the flares.

NON factory period arches - such as SC / Turbo arches mentioned by Nick, are a different matter.

As for colour change - hmm - an original matching numbers car in the correct paint is always desirable - but if the colour change is a properly done change, with inside the engine bay, under the carpets etc. done properly - who cares as long as it's a nice colour

Be more concerned about the provenance of the car - it's history, originality in terms of mechanical and trim - paint can always be changed - and was regularly changed in days of old when painting cost a lot less than it does today

Nevertheless for a car that is top wack the colour should be original and of a desireable hue IMO. Orange is right there.

So what colour is it now? Was the colour change complete?

So an S or RS in immaculate condition, never damaged, fully matching numbers, all trim correct, good history is worth less than an unpainted car if it's colour has been changed by the factory?

Sorry - can't agree and nor would a couple of people on here with cars just like this :-)

car is now dark blue (unsure if porsche colour), factory rs flares installed aftermarket but professionally

he says one of the factory options is a limited slip differential - excuse my ignorance but is this an original option from this year and does it add value

An LSD was an option fom about 1967 on and is very desirable, but I'm not sure what value it would add. There are so many variables in these cars that to isolate individual parts of the specification and put a value on each is impossible.

P. In that particular case I could not disagree with you. I was talking in general rather than specific terms. K.

Who said anything about the factory? I was just talking in general terms.
