Saw a 72 911 normal body at the PCGB event with standard 15 inch fuchs 6's on the fronts and slightly deeper ones at the rear with standard rear arches (non RS). Like the look - what ones would the rear be, are they 7s or deep 6's? what fits tyre size ? help much appreciated

thanks in advance :?:

Deeper sevens

Not an expert, but I have a 73e with 4 7x15s on.
Too wide at the front apparently, but okay at the rear.
Now looking for 6x15s, but may keep the 7s at the back.
Tyre sizes will be 195x65x15, apparently a 'normal' upgrade on the std 185x17x15.
Just what I've read.....a newbie, not an expert.
Just saw a lonely, zero reply post..... :-D

Rgds,
Jon

John - I have a pair of 'flat-face' 6x15's available if you're interested (dated '72 from memory).

Deep sixes/Flat face sixes

Can't tell what you need, as I'm a newbie to early 911s.
My 73 911e targa should have deep sixes, but has 4 7x15s on it.
Not sure what Flat Face sixes are !?
I've got what I think are 2 deep sixes about to be delivered from the US.
I may also buy the ones from Andy (Lightweight 911) but not sure the difference.
I'll let you know if I find more....seems I've a lot to learn ;-D
Looking forward to it !

Hi,

A 73 should have 4 flat 6s not deep 6s. With flat 6s there are two types, the difference is in the what centre cap they take. Yours should be early flat 6s (2 years ish) production and should take the 3 prong style cap.

I have five early flat 6s matching date stamp from a 73 car,

Thanks

Alan

And I thought Flat six just referred to the engine.......
I'll check to see what I have bought from the US when I receive them.
Guess I can sell them on if I'm wrong........
Anyone got any pictures comparing the two types ??

Very approximately :

The 'deep six' or 'deep dish' 6x15" Fuchs were used '69-'71

The early 'flat face' 6x15" Fuchs (which use the 3-pronged centre caps)were used from '72-'73

& the later 'flat face' 6x15" Fuchs (which use the ring type centre caps) were used from '74-on

This is a 'deep dish' 6x15:

& this is an early 'flat face' 6x15:

Both wheels have the same offset & backspace.

But I think silver wants to know if you can fit 7's on the back instead of 6's (flat or deep) and the answer is you can fit any without modification (of arches) on a 72/73 car n'est pas?
Regards
Mike

Some '69-'73 911's will allow 7x15's with 205/60 tyres ... but some won't without slight 'pulling' or rolling the arches.
