Replacement Tag

Whats the small square tag on the left hand side A post? is this the paint code? and Can I buy a new one from anywhere? Also How do I re atach it? unlike the vin tag it dosent use pop rivets.

Are you talking about the one on the left hand screen pillar visible from the front of the car (US imports) or the one on the driver's door hinge post ?

The first is a VIN tag & the second is the paint code plate.

Thanks for the info Thomas, Whats the correct way to re-attach one of these there not the STD pop rivets like what the vin tag is held on by.

They are held on by four chrome coloured round headed pins.

Are the pins simply knocked in or do they require any sort of special tool?

Difficult to tell how they go in but the head is completely smooth and round.

I used the center pins out of pop rivets and attached everyting with araldite. :roll:

I think that the pins are called 'round head screwnails'

They are simply hammered in to pre-drilled holes.

bought one off autofarm about a year ago - original porsche part complete with 4 little rivets.
