project 62 outlaw - bodly goes forth
Hi guys, heres a couple of pics that might make you feel better about your own cars
Front end off to get good access to the places that only rust can usually reach
Why didn't the factory spray some wax in between those panels This car has only been on the road for 16 years of its 44 year life! year round in UK and Germany tho - plenty of winter salt around.
The boys at the body shop are doing a fine job - the panel work thats been done so far is top notch - they are also up for lead loading once the panels are all on
Seems like a long way off at the moment

Nice to finally see a 356 on here that shouldnt be finished before mine for once !
Just so you know- I am going to cut up a NOS front C 1/2 clip, Left side, to repair my B front end- I will be using most of it but I wont be needing the bonnet lip moulding, as I will be retaining mine ( mines the curved front b, not the later squared lip like yours and on my repair section).
Let me know if you need it - although yours looks fine

Contact me if you have any 356b coupe parts !!!!
Hi Rustbucket - Thanks for the kind offer - tho I think thats probably the one part that is ok - I let you know - i picked up a good, used, beadblasted front clip today - I'm going to use the headlamp areas to repair mine.
When is yours going to be done??????? mine is running a little late on my planned summer 2005 completion
I'm trying for Spring 2007 now - on the road before you

well-
I havent touched mine for best part of a year now- marriage, business etc , so I have booked two solid weeks on it over the next three weeks (gotta keep the mrs happy)
Most of the welding is now done- prob about three days worth there, then I should be able to get into sanding and filling. If i can get the bodywork done ready for a primer coat then I will be happy.Ive bought boxes of stuff from ebay over the many months so hopefully I have 90% of everything now.
Engine has yet to be fired up, and I havent really been looking at the mechanics but what I have taken off and played with all seemed fine. Maybe the shocks have seized along with the brakes(maybe) but fingers crossed.....
so yeh, prob 2010 at this rate!
I am debating about starting to pay someone to look at the mechanics while its just sat around, at this rate I will need to restore it again, before its restored !!!

Hi Rustbucket - Mine also needs all the mechanics sorting - brakes -suspension etc. - not too sure about the motor - hoping it'll need a freshen up - as the previous owner drove it into his garage for some welding repairs in the 70s.
I'm farming out some of the work - trying to get a balance of family, work, car is a fine balancing act
Plan is to get a painted shell with new running gear back to my place for me to fit up, install the motor and generally sort out oner the winter - this will actually probably work out like -
Wait all winter for jobs to be done
Get car back to garage in May
Have to work day and night to be on the road for our summer, which seems to be 2 weeks in july lately!
