After my year long saga, the poor running of my car has finally been solved.

Culprit:
- Non replaced HT lead
- Points being under the min. spec
- timing being retarded by 2 - 3 degrees

Car runs great.

Not to say that more stuff won't come up !!!

Also, anyone have a clue on hard starting?

Thanks for all the advise and help.

So nothing to do with the actual MFI then?

As we all should be aware, the MFI is the LAST thing to be checked....

The only real adjustment to MFI is making sure the system is clean.
There are some good fuel cleaners on the market.

Remember, this pump has some roots in the diesel pumps (I understand the petrol MFI was developed from the ME109 of WW2 fame), and diesel pumps never, note, never need servicing.

I was more astounded in the sensitivity of the motor, where 2 or 3 degrees in the timing, could make such a big difference.

Air cooled engines are very much different from their water cooled bretheren.

As noted, make any MFI changes at the end of the program.
